The ENST program encourages its majors to consider spending a semester abroad during their junior year. Gaining a more global perspective on the environment, whether from a social, scientific, political, economic, or aesthetic perspective, significantly strengthens their overall understanding of environmental issues.

Working with the JYA office and the ENST director, students choose among a wide range of study abroad programs around the world. Students often use the independent projects conducted while JYA to fulfill their field work requirement for the major. Potential JYA programs include:
