Peter G. Stillman teaches the history of political philosophy, specializing in political theory since 1500. He regularly teaches a course on modern political thought, and frequently teaches courses on Marxism, conservatism, and utopias. He participates regularly in the American Culture and Environmental Studies Programs at Vassar.
Mr. Stillman has published numerous articles and book chapters on utopian political thought, Hegel's political philosophy, ecological issues, and Marx's theories, and has co-edited a new translation of Rousseau's Confessions.
A graduate of Yale College ('66) with a Ph.D. from Yale University ('73), Mr. Stillman has taught at Vassar since 1970. He has also taught at Princeton and at Harvard Summer School, and has been awarded a Fellowship by the National Endowment for the Humanities.
